New Tomb Raider Movie Footage Revealed

The new Tomb Raider movie starring Oscar winner Alicia Vikander in the lead role hits theatres in March. We've already seen some full-length trailers, but now Warner Bros. has released a pair of bite-sized trailers that you can expect to see on TV soon, if you're not already.
The new TV spots set up part of the story, which appears to be similar to the 2013 video game reboot that served as an origin story of sorts for the title character. We'll see Croft travel to an island in search of her missing father (The Wire's Dominic West), while squaring off against a villain played by Walton Goggins (Maze Runner, Sons of Anarchy). Both trailers use a remixed version of Destiny Child's "Survivor."
Tomb Raider was directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave) and also stars Warcraft's Daniel Wu. The film was produced by Graham King, who won an Oscar for his work on the Martin Scorsese mob movie The Departed. It hits theatres on March 16.
Angelina Jolie played Croft in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, reprising the role for the 2003 sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The films combined to earn more than $431 million globally. Despite that success, it has taken some 15 years for the Tomb Raider film franchise to return.
As for Tomb Raider games, in December it was officially announced that a new Tomb Raider game is on the way. Square Enix confirmed the news in a brief statement, although the title, platforms, and release date remain unknown. In June, the title "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" was potentially leaked in a PowerPoint presentation, though it's unclear if that was real.
